August 1st
Water levels are now rising slowly and will continue for the moment. The levels are being monitored by United Utilities and we are being kept informed of future requirements.
Fishing from the dam wall remains the best bet but access to the water from the banks is very muddy and care needs to taken if you wish to fish from them. Following heavy rain and when the wind is from the easterly directions the dam wall also makes for difficult fishing. Some very tempting spots on the north bank are now exposed and give access to deep water – extreme care is needed and lifejackets are recommended when fishing the exposed “cliff” area
The water temperature is fine and recent rain showers should maintain it at an acceptable level,

The Club was formed in 1978 mainly due to the increasing interest in fly fishing in the local area and a number of like minded anglers wanting to get together and share their common interest. In 1983 we obtained the lease for Upper Roddlesworth, one of the Rivington chain of reservoirs and by far the most scenic. The lake is 24 acres in size and situated 3 miles from junction 3 of the M65 Preston to Colne, on the A675 at Abbey Village, so is easy to find.
We work hard to ensure our members and anyone that has purchased a day ticket has a great day fly fishing equal to if not better than any trout fisheries in the north west.
If you do decide to visit upper Upper Roddlesworth to have a look at us and see what we can offer, Day Tickets are available, see the website for information. We hope you enjoy your day.
Membership of the club is kept to a level to avoid any overcrowding and so every member can enjoy all the facilities the club has to offer. Should you wish to submit an application to join the club, check the Membership page for up to date details on how to apply.
The commitment of members and their active participation in the running of the club has taken us from strength to strength over the years.
As a club we have regular organised trips to other waters and plenty of social events.
If you are interested in joining our club, we can be contacted on the phone number and email address on the Contact Us page
